Toledo Cathedral

Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo, Toledo, Spain

Toledo Cathedral, is one the most beautiful cathedrals in the world and the greatest Gothic structure in Europe is greatly influenced by the French Gothic style of the 13th century, but adapted to Spanish taste. It also combines some characteristics of the Mudéjar style, mainly in the cloister.

The main façade has three portals, known as, Portal of Forgiveness, in the centre. It is so called because indulgences were granted to penitents who entered through it.

Portal of the Last Judgment is the oldest of the three, and represents, as its name suggests, the Last Judgment, it is on the right and Portal of Hell, to the left contains just floral decoration, it used to be reserved as an entrance for the procession of the palms on Palm Sunday.

Once inside, immerse yourself in history and admire one of the most splendid collections of masterpieces of the most outstanding artists (Caravaggio, Titian, Van Dyck, Goya, Morales, Rubens, Bassano, Juan of Burgundy and Lucas Giordano among others) as well as pieces of jewelry made in times of Isabel the Catholic with the first gold brought from America.

We recommend you the guided tour of the Toledo Cathedral to take advantage of all the charm of this extraordinary complex.
